Capturing live dance and performing arts shows is one of the most rewarding parts of my job as a photographer. After months of hard work, hours of rehearsals, and countless moments of dedication, it all culminates in a magical performance. My job? To preserve that magic forever.

Why live show photography matters

Live shows are the heart of the performing arts. Whether it's a local dance school production in Kent or a professional performance on a London stage, these moments are fleeting and irreplaceable. As a live dance and performing arts photographer, I’m there to capture the energy, emotion, and artistry of every performance, both on stage and behind the scenes.

There’s nothing quite like the buzz of a live show. The adrenaline, the lights, the anticipation. As someone who grew up immersed in the world of dance, I know how much these performances mean to students, parents, teachers, and companies. I looked forward to shows more than Christmas as a child! Now, I feel incredibly privileged to document them.

How I got started in Dance Photography

My journey into live dance and performing arts photography began when I brought my camera to one of the first shows I worked on as a dance teacher. It wasn’t really planned; it just felt natural.

Since then, I’ve worked with a wide range of dance schools in Kent, as well as performing arts projects and professional companies in London. From local community halls to iconic venues like Sadler’s Wells, every show has its own story, and I aim to capture it through my lens.

What to expect from a performing arts photographer

Shooting live performances requires spontaneity, speed, and a good understanding of the stage. Often, I’m working without seeing the show in advance, so I need to anticipate moments instinctively. I also offer rehearsal photography, which gives me more flexibility to move around and get creative with composition and angles.

The real magic continues in the editing room, where I relive each show and bring out the emotion and atmosphere in every frame. Whether it's a ballet solo, a musical theatre number, or a high energy street dance routine, I’m focused on capturing it all with clarity and heart.

Booking a dance photographer in Kent or London

I am available for bookings with dance schools, performing arts colleges, youth theatres, and professional companies. Whether you're looking for rehearsal photography, live show coverage, or behind-the-scenes documentation, I’d love to work with you.

If you're a dance school principal, a performing arts company manager, or even an independent artist looking to document your performance, I’d love to hear from you.

Based in Kent and working across London and the South East, I’m always open to collaborating with new artists, schools, and companies. Get in touch to discuss your next performance or rehearsal photography project.
